We’ve had quite a year here in New York. We didn’t think everyone was on Facebook yet so we started a blog to share some of our stories and pictures with you. Click on each of the pictures below to see a gallery of related pictures (including some new pictures).
The beginning of the year was all about finishing the remodel of our apartment. For those who don’t know the story, we purchased in August of 2006, started demolition in November of 2006 and moved in March of 2007. We’re now settled in and greatly enjoying owning our first home.
In June Robyn made a short trip to visit her friend Hannah and her family in Frankfurt, Germany. The ladies enjoyed exploring Frankfurt and Heidelberg and had a German spa experience of a lifetime. Of course the highlight was eating gelato with Lucinda as many times a day as possible.
In July, Robyn and I returned to Hawaii to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We spent two great weeks exploring the Big Island. Our trip started in Kona where we stayed at a B&B and started each day with delicious breakfasts and home grown coffee. Next we headed up to Volcano National Park (sorry no lava right now) and did some hiking in and around the craters and lava fields. The trip ended on the Kohala coast where we relaxed and took in the sun. I had some fantastic dives during the trip including a night-time manta ray dive and a dive where pilot whales swam beside me. While, I don’t plan on racing Kona anytime soon, it was great to see where the Ironman triathlon championships are held. This year I completed two great races. At New York in July, I finished with my best times yet. Jon Kemp and I have talked about racing together for years. We completed the Malibu triathlon together in September.
Finally, the year is ending on a good note with my promotion to Information Security and Privacy Officer for Time Inc. It means a lot of new responsibility, but I’m happy for the challenge and the opportunity. Robyn is still enjoying her work at Columbia University Health Services as well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Mahalo,
